Cal. 45 ACP. S# C140861. Bbl. 5" Colt Type 4 military bbl. used prior to 1920; "P" & "H" on top at rear plus "5" in front of lugs. Even full length two line marking on left side of slide (matching numbered) plus "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE.45" & rampant Colt on right. In Oct. 1923 Colt started fully checkered walnut grips, finger relief cuts by trigger & checkered arched mainspring housing w/ lanyard loop. Checkered controls of slide stop, safety, mag. release, short trigger & wide spur hammer. Fixed sights of half moon front & drift adj. U notched rear. Left front of trigger guard w/ "VP" proof; "47" on opposite side. "S" inspection mark by disconnector. MAGS: 1 near excellent late production Colt 7 rd. w/ matte finished base marked "COLT/45 AUTO" plus "M". CONDITION: good overall appearance w/ general high point wear, occasional peppery oxidation (most pronounced on front strap plus mottled appearance on left side of slide at front half) plus light scratches to include from improper slide stop installation. Very good grips w/ hand wear most visible near butt; wear on grip screws. Noticeable wear on bbl. exterior. Good to very good bore w/ light wear & faint frosting in corners of grooves. (23-424).
