Incorporated in Colorado in June of 1881. Officers were James W. Latta, President, Lewis C. Greene, Secretary, Charles S. Greene, Treasurer and their main office was in Philadelphia. Besides Latta and the Greenes, J. M. McClure, who lived in Alpine, owned the Livingstone Lode, which was 1,500 by 300 feet and “situated on the south slope of Murphy Mountain, Chalk Creek Mining district, two and one-half miles from St. Elmo; located in 1879, and patented in 1882; the vein is an extension of the Murphy vein, and has a crevice varying from two to ten feet in width, and pay streak from twelve inches to four feet of galena, iron, and copper pyrites, quick zinc blende, and sulphurets of silver in quartz gangue, which mill runs, when sorted, from one to two ounces silver per ton; developed by four levels at various depths, intersecting the vein, and ranging from 25 to 550 feet in length, and a shaft eighty feet in depth, in mineral’ [Ref: Corregan and Lingane, Colorado Mining Directory, p. 100-101, 1883]. No. 824 issued to William W. Porter by Lewis C. Greene, Secretary, and Latta as President, for 1,600 shares on 28 April. U/C. Smaller-sized, a few spots of foxing and a fold on the lower right corner. Good condition.
