Mint assays have shown much more; developments – three tunnels on the veins, fifty feet long each, and one cross-cut, designed to cut the main vein at a depth of from 1,500 to 2,000 feet, now in 700 feet, and having about 700 feet more to run; the work on the same being done by two steam drills, motive power supplied by one twenty-one-horse=power boiler and one six-horse-power engine, with a forty-five-inch blower” [Corrigan and Lingane, Colorado Mining Directory, p. 510-511, 1883].
