No. 4130 issued to George W. Shepherd Jr. by H. E. Eggleston, Secretary, and Thomas H. Gill, President, on 28 November 1881 for 500 shares. The firm’s head offices were in Philadelphia, PA with its local branch in Jamestown. In 1883, the company owned the Buena Lode consisting of 1500 by 150 feet located on Buena Hill “one half mile from Jamestown, and 15 miles from Boulder.” The property had “a vein fissure two feet wide, pay streak from four to twelve inches of quartz carrying tellurium and free gold, which mill-runs, when sorted, $200 per ton; developed by shaft 112 feet in depth, and two other shafts aggregating 120 feet; also tunnel 307 feet in length; output for 1881 and 1882 $2,500.” The firm also owned “a mill situated in Jamestown; building 70x20 feet, containing a Forester Crusher, Rolls, and Roaster, and has [a] capacity for treating six tons of ore per day; run by water-power” [Ref: Corrigan and Lingane, Colorado Mining Directory, p. 47, 1883].
