Lot of 2. 1) Photo measures 7" x 4 7/8", no matte, but is glued onto a black piece of construction paper. Trains and railroad tracks, with factory buildings in the back. A caption at the bottom, "Assemer Steel Works". On a train are the letters and numbers, "D & R. G. 823". This stood for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Co. which was founded by General William Jackson Palmer in 1870 and the city founder Dr. William Bell. Their intention was to connect Denver City with Mexico City as a narrow gauge railway system and later focused on exploiting mining service opportunities to the west. Photographer unverified. Great focus, medium contrast. Photo is in good condition with glue stains and marks throughout. 2) Measures 7 3/8" x 4 1/4", no matte, glued onto black construction paper. A woman dressed in a loose/baggy cloth attire, with a tall walking stick in one hand. She stands next to two mules, an older one which looks like it is pulling a "cart" of log wood, and a younger one that standing near. A few buildings behind them, "The Mammoth Mountain. . .Tunnel Co." and "Hilton's Photo Gallery", the other sign is illegible. Various mountains and trees in the foreground. Unverified photographer. Good focus, high contrast. Good overall condition.
