The mine owned property on Battle Mountain and held a large interest in the Moon-Anchor Consolidated Gold Mines. The American office of the latter was managed by Shoup, Reed, and McKinnie. The mine had an English board and an English office. [REF: Hills, Official Manual of the Cripple Creek Mining District, 1900]. Shoup later became the governor of Colorado and was known for his significant riches in mining and oil. He served two terms from 1919-1923. During his governorship, he was responsible for the construction of the Moffat railroad tunnel. The tunnel bore was 6 miles long and was seen as a great engineering feat as it goes straight through the Continental Divide.
