The Midland Terminal Railway was a short line terminal railroad running from the Colorado Midland Railway near Divide to Cripple Creek, Colorado. Construction began in 1893 and the track reached the town of Gillette on July 4, 1894. It continued south, and by 1895 reached the Portland and Independence mines, Anaconda and Cripple Creek (Wikipedia). Large vignette with miners, two steam locomotives, a surveyor and the town off in the distance. The town of Gillett, Colorado was platted in 1894 and named after W.K. Gillett. Gillett has endorsed the certificate on the back. The stub is attached at the left.
