Lot of 6: Two panoramic photos that measure 11 1/2" x 3 1/4", and four postcard size photo's that measure 5 2/8" x 3". 1) Panoramic view of "Central City Looking West" as the caption is printed on the bottom left. Mountains and trees surround the city. Photo number 622. Medium contrast and focus. Good. 2) Panoramic view of Black Hawk, Colorado business section. A fairly empty street scene. About two horse drawn wagons are seen at the side of the road. Few signs on the buildings are visible for example, "Little Market, Borzago (sp?) & Gasperi Groceries". Photo number 607. Medium contrast and focus. Good. 3) A close view of a small section of a Colorado city. "The Independent Smelting and Refining Co." is seen on the side of one large building with a train passing by right next to it. The Gilpin Hotel is seen right across the street. Medium contrast with high focus. Very fine. 4) Very few unidentified buildings are seen surrounded by mountains. Railroad tracks that lead straight into the city. Medium contrast and focus. Good. 5) View of buildings at Swede Hill. Each of the buildings are lined up on different levels of the hill. "Swede Hill Black Hawk Colo" printed at the bottom of the photo. Low contrast, medium focus. Good. 6) Iron Works building view. A one horse drawn wagon pulling to men as it crossed in front of the building. "The Black Hawk Boiler and Sheet Iron Works Geo. Stroeale (sp?) & Sons" is printed in large lettering at the front of the building. According to the Gilpin Historical Societies Website, Black Hawk "is one of Colorado’s oldest cities, one of a number of towns that grew up in 'Gregory’s Gulch,' the narrow ravine where Georgia prospector John H. Gregory first discovered lode gold in the western part of Kansas territory in 1859." All six photographs are in excellent condition with no tears, folds, foxing or staining.
