1918-1954-Lot of 5 items from the Frank Willoughby Family, managers of the Midnight Mine from c1930 to 1954. Included are: a scale on a wooden base (5 x 10.5”) with a self-contained drawer for the weights, candlestick, lamp, 11 ceramic ore cups, and a hardbound book titled Geology Applied to Mining by Josiah Edward Spurr, pub. McGraw-Hill Co., NY 1904, 325 pgs. Willoughby arrived in Aspen in 1922, having graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. Later he became manager of the Midnight Mine, although he is probably best known for being one of the founders of the Highland Bavarian Corporation, formed to develop a ski resort in Aspen. It later became the Aspen Ski Club, for which Willoughby served as president, and that organization later evolved into the Aspen Valley Ski/Snowboard Club. Willoughby served as President of the Board of Directors for that group [Ref:www.skimuseum.net/halloffame/hall_of_fame_details.]. HKA#64251
