A wonderful American patriotic walrus ivory figural cane. This cane has a 3.8" high x 1.25" wide knob carved inform of a clenched fist holding an entwined snake. These canes are typically associated with the Union side of theAmerican Civil War, with the snake representing the Confederacy. Mounted on a nice turned, slightly taperedwalnut shaft with .5" steel ferrule. Total length 34".Carving is worn from use with cross-hatching on snake's body worn away on high points, slight tight age lines in ivory,nice original finish & patina, ferrule with surface rust.(EST 300-400)
