Very fine content A.L.S. "<i>Claude Mone</i>t" 2pp. 8vo., Giverny, July 4, 1889, in French to his close friend Gustave Geffroy, a radical journalist and important art critic. In part: ".<i>..Please reply to me...what day you expect to be coming with M. Gallimard [art collector Paul Gallimard]...What happiness it is for me to be calm and tranquil at last. I have not yet set to work in spite of the good weather, but it won't be long now...I have put a little order into the enormous heap of paintings which I have, and I have changed the paintings hanging in my studio...</i>". Gustave Geffroy (1855-1926) was a friend of Edouard Manet and first met Monet in 1886, later writing his influential biography <i>Claude Monet: sa vie, son oeuvre</i>.
