Clarke, William. THE CONNEXION OF THE ROMAN, SAXON, AND ENGLISH COINS, DEDUCED FROM OBSERVATIONS OF THE SAXON WEIGHTS AND MONEY. London: Printed for William Bowyer 1767. 4to, contemporary full calf; rebacked spine with five raised bands, gilt; all page edges yellow. xvi, 552 pages; finely engraved arms on dedication leaf; engraved headpiece; woodcut headpieces and tailpiece; a few engravings of coins in the text. Very good or better. First and only edition of Clarke’s principal published work. In it he “brings considerable learning to bear upon this obscure subject and writes with much elegance of style.” —Warwick Wroth, Dictionary of National Biography. Quite scarce, and an attractive copy.
