CLARENCE LEONARD TINKER
(1887-1942) Native American airman during World War II, killed in combat during an attack on the Japanese at Midway Island. Tinker was the highest-ranking Americvan Indian in the Air Corps. Rare I.S.P. 7" x 9" sepia, a seated portrait in uniform, boldly inscribed at right: "To the Army's International acrobatic champion Lt. Jack Fraim, best wishes Clarence Tinker C.O. 20th Pursuit". Trimmed at left margin, very good condition.
