Given to current owner as a child by Craven (Cravin) Crismond of North Carolina. Crismond enlisted as a Private on December 19, 1862 and served in the 13th Battalion of North Carolina (Company A). On October 2, 1863, Crismond transferred to the 66th North Carolina Infantry Regiment.
