This group of excavated buttons includes 1 coat size South Carolina, no shank. / 4 Coat size New Yorks w/ shanks. / 7 Coat size enlisted eagles w/ shanks. / 2 Eagle “I” buttons w/ shanks. / 1 Eagle “R”, no back. / 1 Cuff New York w/ shank. / 1 Cuff “AVC” w/ shank. / 1 Postwar New York cuff w/ shank. / 1 Prewar Navy, no shank. / 30 Civilian buttons dating from Colonial period to the Civil War. / 1 “A” hat letter, no pins. / 1 Partial bridle rosette. / 1 Partial New York World’s Fair locket. CONDITION: all items are in excavated condition. (02-15129/BF). 2) MILITARIA. This group contains 1 canvas muzzle cover for a cannon & is stenciled, “U.S. 24 PDR GUN”. / 2 Excavated Civil War breast plates. / Metal chin scales for an M1881 spike helmet. / 1 Round ball bullet mold. / 1 Gold bullion set of helmet waffles & straps. / 5 Excavated mini balls. / 1 Excavated tompion. / 1 Partial excavated nipple wrench. / 1 Sm. dirk w/ a silver & horn handle. / 1 Spanish American War hat device featuring crossed rifles w/ “28” above & “H” below. / 10 Assorted excavated relics. CONDITION: excavated relics have expected patina. Helmet cords show light wear. Muzzle cover shows light to moderate wear. (02-15130/BF). 3) GIMLETS, DRILLS & FUSES. This interesting lot includes 7 artillery gimlets or drills ranging in size from 2" to 4 3/4". / 2 Tins that contain what appear to be paper cannon fuses. / 1 Copper Civil War era cannon fuse. CONDITION: gimlets all appear functional. 1 Fuse tin is corroded, 1 is not. (02-15135/BF). 4) 3 SPY GLASSES. This group includes 3 sm. brass spy glasses ranging in size from 5 1/2" to 7 1/4" closed. The largest one is a 4 pull. The next is a 2 pull & the smallest one does not extend. CONDITION: all spy glasses appear functional. The middle sized one is missing its brass cover.
