HOUSEWIFE & MORE. 1) MAJOR GENERAL EPAULETTES. A superb pair of Major General epaulettes w/ beautiful gold bullion tops & silver bullion stars. The undersides are red velvet & red Moroccan leather. The brass attachments on each epaulet are marked “RIGHT” & “LEFT”. CONDITION: very light wear. An impressive pair. 2) BRIGADIER GENERAL EPAULETTES. A fine pair of Brigadier General epaulettes w/ gold bullion tops & a silver bullion star. The undersides are red velvet faded to orange & red Moroccan leather. The brass attachments on each epaulet are marked “RIGHT” & “LEFT”. Epaulettes are contained in the original tin box. CONDITION: light wear overall. Silver stars are tarnished. 3) COLONEL EPAULETTES. A very fine pair of Colonel epaulettes w/ beautiful gold bullion tops & well executed silver bullion eagles. The undersides are red velvet & red Moroccan leather. The brass attachments on each epaulet are marked “RIGHT” & “LEFT”. Epaulettes are contained in the original tin box. CONDITION: very light wear. A visually attractive pair. 4) SOLDIER’S HOUSEWIFE. A fine housewife marked in part, “BROOKS PATENT Military & Traveling WRITING, WORK & TOILET CASE, WEIGHING BUT 10 OUNCES. PATENTED JANUARY 5, 1864”. Interior has a penciled ID to “BW Stevens Co H 2nd Mass Artillery”. Housewife contains needles, string, pen, pencil, buttons, thimble, ink well & more. The outside of the housewife is stenciled, “B.W.S”. CONDITION: housewife shows light to moderate wear overall. 5) BIBLE. This bible is dated 1851 & was published by The American Bible Society of New York. CONDITION: front cover is detached but present. 6) TINTYPE. A half plate tintype of an outdoor view that appears to be a church. CONDITION: tintype is in poor condition w/ much flaking. 7) TACTICS BOOK. The front cover reads, “HUTTON & FRELIGH’S EDITION OF HARDEE’S TACTICS; RIFLE AND LIGHT INFANTRY SCHOOL OF THE SOLDIER, COMPANY AND BATTALION, COMPLETE TWO VOLUMES IN ONE”. Published in 1861 in Memphis, TN. A rare & desirable edition of Hardee’s Tactics published in the South & likely used by a Confederate officer during the Civil War. CONDITION: front cover is detached & has evidence of water staining. Moderate use overall. (02-14444/BF). $1,400-2,000.
