(CIVIL WAR NEW YORK): Lot of seven war date letters and documents including an letter of W.H. Walker written to the Quartermaster General for the State of New York, S. V. Talcot, dated May 13, 1863, offering a proposal for a supply contract: "...I propose to subsist by contract all troops that may be quartered in the buildings fitted up by the Sate cor[ner] of Howard and Mercer Streets in this city, for the Sum of Twenty five (25) cents per day per man of three meals, or to take the regular United States rations in payment..." and offering a security of $10,000 "for the faithful performance of this contract". Together with a letter from Talcot dated Dec. 31, 1863 advising Walker that his contract had expired and that he should "...be pleased to vacate the Park Barracks and turn them over..." to another contractor as well as orders form the Assistant Adjutant General dated Aug. 30, 1863 ordering that a detail be sent to the "Battery Barracks, Park Barracks, and Nos. 78 and 80 Walker Street, to superintend the cooking of the rations furnished by contractors..." Tighter with four documents related to the service of one Abraham W. Tower's service in the 56th. Regiment. of "National Guard S.N.Y." including discharge papers. Seven pieces in good to very good condition. $100-150
