<b>649. CIVIL WAR LETTERS</b> A grouping of three Civil War letters by Hiram and Pleasant Elliott their mother ca. May, 1865, while they both appear to have been in prison in Louisville, KY, 5pp. sm. 8vo. in total, in part: <i>"...It is with much pleasure that I rite a few lines to let you know that I got hear safe and sound. I left home half past 8 and I got to New Albany against 3 clock and it was as hot a Day as ever I saw. I thought I wold dye som times...the talk is hear that we will be musturd out next weak and I hope it is so...I don't look as well as I did quite but I am not dangers...I can eat mil and mush know and it don't fase me I can eat any thing and so can you after you drink a bout fore galen...I think that time is now at hand when me and Harum[?] and all the rest of the soldiers can come home to stay I hope so...</i>".
