Bit has all associated leather straps forming the headstall including the lg. brass bosses w/ entwined “USA”. / 1 Civil War regulation bit having block “US” side bosses. No leather. / 1 Early iron bit which possibly saw Confederate use. / 2 Civil War era brass spurs of differing styles. / 1 Early iron spur. / 1 Bible published in 1859 by the American Bible Society in New York. / 1 Book titled “Layman’s Assistant” by Rev. C. The word “KEG” inside a heart is carved on each side. / 1 Late Civil War tin coffee pot w/ a bail handle measuring 9" in height. / 1 Tin wash pan measuring 17" in diameter. CONDITION: most items show light to moderate wear. Leather on bit has been heavily oiled. Newspapers & prints generally have edge wear. Keg & tinware show heavy use. (02-14276/BF). 2) EARLY WOODEN AMMO CRATE. This crate measures 14 1/2" x 7" x 8 3/4" high. It is stenciled on the front, “METALLIC CARTRIDGES MANUFACTURED BY THE UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO BRIDGEPORT CONN. U.S.A.”. Box is dovetailed. No lid. CONDITION: box has a few holes & losses. Stencil is quite clear. Structure is substantially solid. 3) EARLY WOODEN AMMO CRATE. This crate measures approx. 15 1/2" x 9" x 7 1/2". Stencils are difficult to discern but a side stencil appears to read, “1200 RE_ _ _ _ CARTRIDGES BLANK. FRANKFORT ARSENAL”. The front & rear stencils appear to have similar wording. The side of the box is stamped into the wood, “12-14-88.”. Box has nailed butt ends. A portion of the lid is present. CONDITION: box remains structurally sound but has missing slivers of wood on 1 face & 1 side. (02-14294(2)/BF). $900-1,400.
