The pamphlet which "either provoked Pope into making Cibber the new hero of the Dunciad or gave him an excuse for continuing the revisions he had already contemplated … there was a Dublin edition, printed for A. Reilly, 1742, which I have not seen". - Guerinot, Pamphlet Attacks on A. Pope, p.289. Lowe, Arnott and Robinson, 2573 has the London editions only.(1) LEWIS ( Matthew G. ), 'Monk'. Pages v, (1), 77, (1, blank), 12mo, recent paper wrapper : the title-page lightly soiled, otherwise a very good copy. In this copy the text ends on page 77 with 'Finis" : The first of four editions printed by Folingsby : ESTC locates eight copies: C, D(2), Oc, Dt(2) : MH-H, CaQMM, CaAEU.(2) LLOYD ( Robert ). The Capricious Lovers ; a comic opera. As it is performed at the Theatre Royal in Drury-Lane. The music [not included in this edition] composed by Mr. Rush. Dublin : Printed for J. Hoey, sen. for J. Exshaw. H. Saunders (and six others), 1764. FIRST IRISH EDITION, 52-pages, 12mo, recent paper wrapper : a very good copy. The only Dublin printing. Thomas Arne, who usually wrote his own libretti, used this for his "Phoebe at Court" in 1776.(3) KOTZEBUE ( August von ). Lovers' Vows : a play, in five acts, performing at the Theatre-Royal, Covent-Garden. From the German of Kotzebue. By Mrs. Inchbald. Dublin : Printed by Thomas Burnside, No. 10, Lower Liffey-street, 1798. FIRST IRISH EDITION, pages (4), 55, (1, blank), 12mo, recent wraps : a very good copy. ESTC locates copies at BMu, C, D, Dt : Dfo(2), KU-S, InNd. The only Dublin edition listed by Morgan is that of 1806.(4) BEAUMONT ( Francis ). Philaster a tragedy. Written by Beaumont and Fletcher. With alterations. As it is acted at the Theatre-Royal in Drury-Lane. Dublin : Printed for P. Wilson, J. Exshaw … (and four others), 1763. Pages 69, (3, blank), 12mo, recent paper wrapper : the upper margin of the title-page cut close just touching but without loss to the first word of title, otherwise a very good copy. Stratman 1174 (DFo only). ESTC locates eight copies : D, Dp, Dt, O / DFo, PPL, TxHR and PU. The alterations are by George Colman the Elder.(5) CIBBER ( Colley ).
