"CHRONIK DES THEATERS IN ALTENBURG" TAKEN FROM THE REICHS CHANCELLERY
Inscribed book, "Chronik des Theaters in Altenburg" ("Chronik of Theater in Altenburg"), by Bernd Lurgen (Leipzig: Max Beck Verlag), 1937, 154pp. 4to., limited edition number 1 of 100. Inscribed and dedicated to Hitler by the author in black ink on the edition notice page, in part: "Unserm Fuhrer mit dem Ausdruck... Treue und Dankbarkeit, Bernd Lurgen, Frau Franck Mitgl. No 160" ("Our Fuhrer, expressing... loyalty and gratitude, Bernd Lurgen, Mrs. Franck, member No. 160"). Bound in light vellum boards. The boards are warped from dampness, and some moisture stains are visible on the bottom edge of the front cover, else very good. Our consignor's father was the chief of staff, American Headquarters, Berlin Air Command from June to August, 1945. During this period, he had the opportunity to "liberate" several volumes from the Reichschancellery, specifically Hitler's offices and those adjoining. This example is one of those volumes. With a copy of the consignor's notarized letter of provenance.
