<b>57. CHRISTOPHER “KIT” CARSON</b>
<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>(1809-1868). American frontiersman who was the renowned guide of John C. Frémont’s western expeditions in the 1840’s, playing an important part in the conquest of California during the Mexican War. Civil War-date clipped signature, “<i>C. Carson,</i>” approx 3", boldly penned in brown ink, adding “<i>1862.</i>” Fine example. Carson later became an agent for the Ute (1853-1861). Lincoln called on him to organize the volunteers and scouts in the Western Territories after it was necessary to withdraw the regular army. He successfully fought superior Indian forces at the Battle of Adobe Wells and was brevetted a brigadier general at the close of the Civil War. Nicely matted beneath printed b/w portrait of the famed frontiersman and scout. Overall 12"x17½".

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
    winning bid will always be one bidding increment
    over the second highest bid. The minimum
    acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
    estimate given in the item   description or $25,
    whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
    invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
    House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
    transfer details are available upon request.
    West Virginia residents   will pay a sales tax of
    6% unless  a resale number is filed with us prior
    to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
    a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
    Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
    shipping and insurance charges are added to the
    invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
    to increased charges. All items are shipped

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
    seven days providing that it comes back in the same
    condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
    authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
    must be returned with two letters denying it’s
    authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
