CHIPPENDALE SLANT FRONT DESK. Maple with old refinishing and pine secondary wood. Ogee feet have scalloped returns and molded detail around the base. Four drawers with beaded edges and the original brasses. Interior features ten blocked drawers with brass pulls plus an unusual center drawer above with raised carved date "1787" and a fan. Eight pigeon holes and a secret drawer. Replaced hinges and minor restorations to the drawer lips. Ex Sarah Russell collection. Ex Ludlow. See detail on page 182. Dovetailed case is 35 5/8"w., 38 1/4"w. at the feet. 19 3/4"d. 42 3/8"h.
