<td width="100%">
Circa 1920 Chinese Export Figure of a Blue Parrot, fresh out of a New York Estate. This splendid parrot might even date to the late quing period (1850-1890) but I have a tendency not to exzagerate age of antique oriental porcelain. It is in very good condition with the only flaws be a very tiny (1mm) chip to the base and a small 1/4" flake to the underside of the base. The mark on the parrot's nose is not a tiny chip as it might appear but a firing mark under the glaze that would have happened in the firing and making of this parrot. The parrot measures 9 3/4" in height and the diameter of the base is slightly over 4". It is heavily potted of a reddish-buff colored porcelainous stoneware. It might even be referred to as pottery and not porcelain. The cobalt glaze of the feathers has a faint hint of iridescence to it, similar to what one might see on the surface of Early Famille Noir. The hole in the back of the parrot in the center was probably designed to burn incense. More images are available upon request.
