<td width="100%">
A Great Chinese Export Blue Canton/Nanking Mug/Tankard from about C.1840. This mug is decorated with the "CLASSIC" Canton underglaze blue on a white porcelain ground. The design incorporates a Chinese Pagoda, a willow tree and a island in the distance with another building. This mug is 4 7/8" in height and the diameter at the top is 3 3/4". It has a double strapped entwined handle with a peacock feather painted in blue as decoration. The strap handle ends with molded floral sprays. A fine example of Chinese Canton Porcelain. The only difference between this and blue canton or nanking is there is not a bridge at all in the scene. If there is a person on the bridge it is nanking and if there is nobody on the bridge it is considered blue canton. The condition is excellent with light wear to the bottom, handle with a firing crack in the middle and small area of fritting on the handle. Iron oxide flaw to the front that was in the original making of the firing of this wonderful ale tankard.
