A Chinese blue and white phoenix tail form Yen Yen mythical beast vase. Each beast is depicted on rock formations over crashing waves. Bottom holds six character blue calligraphy Kangxi (1662-1722) reign mark, and is of the period. Measures 4 5/8" height (11.7cm). Total weight of 113 grams. Provenance: Ex Dr. HA Crosby Forbes Collection. Dr. Forbes was the grandson of Captain Robert Bennet Forbes and also the founder of the Forbes House Museum in Milton, MA (formerly known as the Museum of the American China Trade), as well as the Curator of Asian Export Art at Peabody Essex Museum, Salem MA, and co-authored the book on Chinese Export Silver.
