CHINA RECOVERED FROM ALASKAN SHIP WRECK. 44 Piece Set: 10 dinner, 8 dessert, 8 bread and butter, six soup plates, and 6 cups and saucers were all recovered from the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company's luxury liner Princess Kathleen. She sank off Lena Point near Juneau, Alaska in September 1952. These later ironstone dishes have a charming design of naturalistic oriental birds and flowers in colors of rose, grey-lavender, yellow, green, and light rust on an off-white ground. Each piece bears the stamp "Canadian Pacific" over "B.C. "Steamships" over "Worlds Greatest Travel System" over "Duraline Grindley Vitrified England." Dinner plate - 9 5/8" d.; soup plate - 9 1/8" d., Condition is good, but one cup is chipped and another has brown spots on the rim; two dinner plates have some crazing.
