CHINA-BURMA-INDIA CAMPAIGN XXII PUNJAB BATTALION CARVED
CHINA-BURMA-INDIA CAMPAIGN XXII PUNJAB BATTALION CARVED CIGAR BOX
A XXII Punjabi Battalion officer's intricately-carved cigar box obtained in-theater in the Far East. The 12" x 7 1/2" x 3 1/8" box bears carvings of dragons on the top hinged lid and on all four sides with edges displaying carved flowers, Asian symbols, etc. The battalion's insignia is centered on the top lid. Within, the underside of the lid bears the same style of carving and includes the regiment's name. The box is also lined in a thin, aromatic wood. Very good. During the Second World War, the battalion fought in Eritrea, North Africa and Burma. Provenance: The War Museum, New York.
