CHINA 1902 Chinese Engineering & Mining Company 1 Dollar (A12599), PS246r, S/M K1-1. UNC. An unissued remainder with counterfoil attached on left. Printed by Waterlow & Sons. Dated at Tongshan (today's Tangshan in Hebei province), site of one of the main coal mines operated by this British company, and also the site of the great earthquake of 1976. A few years before this note was issued, future American President Herbert Hoover, then a mining engineer, was the manager of this company.
