Twenty-first President of the United States (1881-85) ascending to the presidency after the assassination of James A. Garfield. His signature “C. A. Arthur” boldly penned on the front flyleaf of the text-book Greek Grammar by Philip Buttman, 336pp, 8vo, Cumm-ings, Hilliard, and Company, Boston, 1826. General light toning of interior text; occasional light foxing; front cover of leather binding lacking; back cover and spine heavily worn.
