<p>This handmade chair dates to the period of three-legged prototypes produced in 1945 and subsequently exhibited in New York. Overall, the chair differs in subtle dimensional ways from even the earliest of the mass-produced models. Most impressively, the weldings of the frame can be attributed to the skilled hand of Harry Bertoia, who subsequently left the Eames office after 1946. Together with the chair in the following lot, we can study the earliest incarnations of, as well as the classic differences between, the Lounge and Dining versions of the Eames' most revered chair design.
