SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 45. NSN. Bbl. 36" heavy oct. No front sight present. Bbl. mounted globe rear sight. Percussion half-stock rifle attributed to 19th century gunsmith Charles Raker of Bedford County, PA. No visible markings on bbl. or lock. Trigger spur broken off & missing. Single trigger. Half-length stock with patchbox. Inside of patchbox marked "LEWIS". No ramrod present. Left side cheekpiece with star decoration. CONDITION: stock shows notable crack ahead of lock running from front of trigger guard to both top sides of forend, a few other smaller cracks, scattered flaking finish & handling wear. Metal has an attic find dark gray patina with scattered oxidation & light pitting. Hammer is frozen & not functioning when hand cycled. Dark bore with scattered oxidation but evident rifling.
