<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>(1836-1929). Texas Ranger, Indian scout and trail driver, pioneering the Goodnight-Loving Trail to Ft. Sumner, NM, in 1866 and the Goodnight Trail to Colorado in 1875. Surprisingly rare partly printed DS “<i>C Goodnight,</i>” 1p, 8½"x3", Clarenden, TX, Jan 2, 1895. Promissory note to the order of “<i>The Bank of Clarenden</i>” in the amount of “<i>Thirteen Hundred</i>” dollars at 10% interest. Boldly signed in space provided. Docketed on verso. General light toning; two Paid stamps away from signature; red ink cancellation touches but does not obscure signature; light/moderate wear and creasing; light foxing at bottom left margin; else in good condition. Goodnight fought outlaws and Indians for many years in TX, NM and CA. At one time Goodnight ran over 100,000 cattle over one million acres in partnership with John Adair. He developed “cattalo” by cross breeding buffalo and polled Angus cattle and founded panhandle’s Stockmen’s association, instrumental in ridding area of outlaws and cattle thieves.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
