Prolific English novelist, one of the most popular writers in literary history, noted for his use of irony and symbolic social criticism of his narratives, including <i>A Tale of Two Cities</i> and <i>David Copper-field</i> (1849-50). Brief ALS “<i>C D.</i>,” 1p, 12mo, Devonshire Terrace, “<i>Sunday Morning</i>,” [n.y.] To T. J. Thompson, in full, “<i>Undoubtedly and unquestionably I expect you today— and that too at the Gothic Hour of Half-past 5, punctual to the moment. Faithfully yours always</i>...” Boldly penned in brown ink. Minor stains; light wear and soiling; normal folds; o/w VG. <b>Thomas James Thompson</b> (1842-1881), grandson of James Pepper Thompson of Liverpool, was left by him a considerable fortune on the condition that he did not adopt a profession. Alice Meynell was his daughter by a second marriage. According to family tradition, Thompson first met Dickens at Lady Blessington’s. This letter is not among the numerous letters from the novelist to Thompson published in the Pilgrim Edition of <i>The Letters of Charles Dickens</i>.

estimate given in the item description or $25,

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
