Faithfully yours always</i>...” Boldly penned in brown ink. Minor stains; light wear and soiling; normal folds; o/w VG. <b>Thomas James Thompson</b> (1842-1881), grandson of James Pepper Thompson of Liverpool, was left by him a considerable fortune on the condition that he did not adopt a profession. Alice Meynell was his daughter by a second marriage. According to family tradition, Thompson first met Dickens at Lady Blessington’s. This letter is not among the numerous letters from the novelist to Thompson published in the Pilgrim Edition of <i>The Letters of Charles Dickens</i>.
