This French Art Deco bronze vase, circa 1925, is signed " M. Charles ". Measures 13.25" high and 8.5 across and weighs 3 lbs. 5 oz. Underside has an Eagle hallmark with the letters " MB " and " Made in France " mark. Features a geometric deco design using enamel and metal inlay in the dinanderie method that repeats four times around the circumference. There is a wavy dimpled area (roughly 3"-4" in diameter) across one design which actually protrudes outward, plus a small sharp dent to the rim, and the overall rim shape is distorted. This vase is an excellent candidate for restoration which can smooth this dimpled area. The dinanderie technique, founded in the Flemish town of Dinant hundreds of years ago, involves the hand-shaping and inlay of metal (including brass, copper, bronze) into various objects. Important artists of the method from the art deco period include Claudius Linossier, Jean Dunand and Jean Dampt. Thanks for visiting. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.
