CHAPLIN, CHARLES
353. CHARLES CHAPLIN (1889 - 1977) American silent comedy film star who started his career with Mack Sennett and achieved worldwide fame with portrayal of "the tramp". Good content T.L.S. "Chas Chaplin" on a very rare letterhead for his ill-fated music publishing business, the "Charlie Chaplin Music Publishing Co.", 1p. 4to., Los Angeles, Apr. 26, 1916 to one Margaret Goddard. He writes in part: "..It is a genuine pleasure for me to hear from all of my Screen friends and of their interest in my work...I have changed Companies and am now with the Mutual Film Company and am busy working on my first picture, which will be released shortly by this company. I trust it will give you the same pleasure and delight that all of my previous efforts have done...". The letterhead bears an engraved image of the building which housed the publishing company as well as a bust image of Chaplin. Usual folds, one of which just nicks the "C" in "Chaplin", a few mounting remnants on verso, otherwise very good condition.$500-700
