Charlie Chaplin's (Robert Downey Jr.) costume from Richard Attenborough's Oscar-nominated biopic Chaplin. Chaplin created the iconic look of the Tramp when he seized several items from a communal male dressing room at a studio in Hollywood. This costume comprises garments from various scenes throughout the film, and the distressing near the bottom of the waistcoat's front screen-matches to when Charlie first impressed Hollywood comedy producer Mack Sennett (Dan Aykroyd). This particular cane and bowler hat were worn by Downey Jr. in publicity shots.

The costume comprises a Christys' London black felt bowler hat (labelled size 7 â…›); a black woolen dinner jacket which features a black trim on the lapels; an intentionally distressed dark grey check-patterned waistcoat (labelled "1"); a collarless off-white Anto shirt decorated with diamond-shaped stitching (labelled Tramp #1, RDJ, Oct.1991"); a pair of oversized dark grey woolen trousers; and two mismatched black brogues (both UK size 9). The jacket contains a Berman & Nathan label with printed text reading "Robert Downey Jr, Chaplin" and a "Western Costume Co." stamp is present on the waistcoat's lining.

Completing the costume is a resin cane that displays a ridged design with cast-in texture and finished in varying shades of brown paint to resemble bamboo. The costume displays signs of production use, including minor damage to the hat, staining on the shirt and marks on multiple components. The heels from both shoes have been removed and there is an intentional rectangular hole cut out in the left shoe's sole. Dimensions (cane): 89 cm x 12 cm x 2.5 cm (35" x 4 3/4" x 1")
