CDV OF LT. A.G. SHEPARD, 33RD MASS. Vignette by "Heald & Bro." Lynn, Mass. Ink-signed on recto with name, rank and regiment. Shepard enlisted as a sergeant in Company K. and was commissioned in May 1863 as a 2nd Lt. serving until the end of the war. The 33rd Mass. was brigaded with the 134th NY in Von Steinwehr's division of the 11th Corps and compiled an impressive war record. This view of Shepard is the third variant known to us.
