CDV ALBUMS OF LT. J.M. HUBBARD, "BEECHER RIFLES" & 11TH KS CAVALRY. This is a significant historical group of three albums containing a photographic archive of Hubbard and his family. Collectively, the three albums contain 117 mostly unidentified CDV's and tintypes of the Hubbard/Fairchild families. The Hubbard men are identified in contemporary ink on small pieces of paper. There are several views of Josiah M. Hubbard in civilian dress and one of his brother, Robert, also in civilian attire. Lieutenant Nathaniel L. Hubbard, 6th USCT is well represented in five different military views and there is a military cartes of his company commander, Captain Edson J. Harkness who served in the 9th NYHA before joining the 6th USCT. Another fine CDV by "Bundy & Williams," Middleton, Conn. depicts two young soldiers standing side by side with their muskets. They are Privates Amos H. Fairchild and Edward H. Brewer, Company B., 14th CT. both of whom died within a month of one another in 1863 (of disease?). Amos Fairchild is Harriet Fairchild's brother. Six additional military views are unidentified including an armed naval officer and a young private with a "B/26" on his kepi. Finally, there are four unidentified outdoor CDV's of what appears to be New England architecture along with a rare circa 1862 view of the Beecher "Bible and Rifle" Church in Wabaunsee, Kansas which has an interesting history in its own right. Lot sold with some research on Josiah Hubbard and the "Bible and Rifle" church. Overall, the cdv's are VG while the leather albums have condition problems.
