CW CDV photograph of Conrad Birnbach, 6th New York Infantry. Soldier identified on front in ink as “Conrad Wilhelm Birnbach father of Conrad Rudolph Birnbach.” Conrad Birnbach mustered into the 6th New York Infantry on 15 October 1862. The 6th New York was order to New Orleans in November 1862 and attached to Sherman's division; the regiment was later moved to Grover's division and took part in an engagement at Irish Bend. The regiment was mustered out in June 1863. Matte card has soiling, photo remains excellent.
