CDV of Alexander Scammel Brooks Keyes of the 59th Massachusetts Infantry. Pencil inscription to verso reads, ''Capt. Major Keyes / 59th Regt. Mass Vols.'' Keyes mustered into Company A on 5 December 1863 and was discharged into the 1st Massachusetts Heavy Artillery on 5 July 1864. He mustered out on 20 October 1865. The 59th Massachusetts was engaged at the Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor and the Crater. Image measures 2.5'' x 4''. Corners slightly bumped, otherwise excellent condition.
