CDV of Olof Bengtson of the 43rd Illinois Infantry, Company C. Identified in ink to reverse, “Olof Bengtson / Co. A 43 Reg.” A resident of Bishop Hill, Illinois, Bengtson mustered into service on 16 December 1861 and mustered out on 30 November 1865 at Little Rock, Arkansas. The 43rd Illinois saw action at Shiloh, Jenkins' Ferry and Saline River. Bottom corners of image clipped. Some album paper still attached to image. Image measures 2.5'' x 4''. Overall, very good condition.
