CDV of Captain Harrison Marvin of the 143rd New York Infantry, Company I. Signed to reverse in period ink, ''H. Marvin / Capt. 143d N.Y. Vols. / Dryden / Tompkins Co. / New York.'' Marvin enlisted as Captain of Company I on 8 October 1862 and commanded until July 1865. The 143rd New York was a heavy fighting unit serving with Sherman in the Atlanta Campaign at Resaca, Dallas, Kennesaw Mountain, the March to the Sea and throughout the Savannah and Campaign of the Carolinas. Corners clipped and some soiling, else very good condition.
