CDV of Captain Charles A. Phillips of the 110th New York Infantry. Image identified in ink, “Capt. Chas. A. Phillips / 110 N.Y.V.” Brief outline of Phillips' career printed to verso. A resident of Fulton, New York, Phillips enlisted in the 24th New York Infantry for a 2 year term in 1861. He was shot in the right arm on 11 November 1861, and discharged at Upton's Hill, Virginia on 12 January 1862. He reenlisted as a 1st Lieutenant with the 110th New York on 19 August 1862 and mustered out as a Captain on 28 August 1865 at Albany, New York. The 110th New York suffered losses at Franklin, Port Hudson and Vermillion Bayou. Image measures 2.5'' x 4''. Very good condition.
