Featured in this lot is this framed cabinet card photograph No. 45 called "Chasing a Yearling" from "Views of Cowboy Life" collection by C.D. Kirkland born in 1917 and died in 1989. The photograph is of cowboys chasing a yearling running away from the herd with the main herd balled up for counting. The phtotograph is marked on the front as follows: No. 45 Chasing a yearling - Kirkland - Photographer- Cheyenne, WYO. C.D. Kirkland, whose full name is Claude Duval Kirkland, was born on April 5, 1917, in Alvord, Texas, and passed away on May 31, 1989. He is primarily known as a Western painter, but he also made significant contributions to the photography community, particularly in documenting and preserving images related to ranching life and the American Southwest. The back of the photograph cabinet card shows full works from the collection known as "Views of Cow-Boy Life and the Cattle Business". The condition of this photograph cabinet card is is well preserved with a tear tot eh cabinet card and some wear to the frame but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this framed photograph is 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" and the visible artwork measures 4 3/4" x 7 3/4".
