Paris, France, late 19th century. Fitted plum velvet lined case containing surgical and amputation instruments, some by L. Mathieu. Includes knives, bone saw, bullet probe and director. 2 1/2"h. 13 3/4"w. 5 1/4"d.
Included is a card identifying its original owner as Dr. F.E. Dostal, Riverview, Illinois, purported to have been a Union Army doctor during the Civil War.
