<B>CASED SIXTH PLATE TINTYPE OF AN ARMED UNION PRIVATE, CA 1860S.</B></I> A forage cap, frock coat, musket, and fixed bayonet combine to give us the classic image of a Yankee volunteer off to war. The subject also wears a belt rig held together by an oval plate, the face of which is obscured by the soldier's weapon.
