CASED COLT MODEL 1860 ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Perc. Usual configuration with 8” round bbl, German silver front sight, 4-screw frame cut for shoulder stock, with flat head hammer screw and notched backstrap. It has brass trigger guard and iron backstrap. Below each of the serial numbers on the bottom of bbl lug, frame, trigger guard and backstrap is a small ”0”. It is British proofed between each of the nipples on the cylinder and on the side of bbl. The 4th screw on the frame has been replaced with shallow round-headed screws. It has 1-pc oil finished walnut grips. It is accompanied by a fine oak English casing with green baize lining. The case contains an unmarked Dixon-type long bag flask, blued Colt’s Patent two-cavity mold with “44H” on the right side, and “L” shaped nipple wrench/screwdriver, a metal oil bottle, an all iron wiping rod and a tin of Eley caps. It has the standard Colt paper label inside the lid. SN 22773. CONDITION: Very good to fine, all matching except the wedge, which is unnumbered and from a smaller frame revolver. Bbl retains 75-80% thin original blue, bright in the sheltered areas, with hammer marks by the wedge slot. The operating handle retains dark case colors with the rammer turned gray. The frame retains 85-90% strong dark case colors with scattered spots of light surface rust. The hammer retains about 50% colors, mostly along the back edge. the trigger guard is a light yellow color and the backstrap retains about 50% original blue with the balance turned to patina. The cylinder is an even silver-brown color with nicks on the front edge and retains 60-70% good cylinder scene. Five of the 6 safety pins are good. Grips are outstanding with only minor wear, handling and use marks and retain most of their original finish. Excellent mechanics. Strong bright bore with scattered light pitting. The case has a crack in the lid and another in the bottom with repairs at the hinges in the lid. Retains about 90% original varnish. The lining is faded and soiled with some rust under the gun. 4-50075
