(1864 - 1943) Black-American botanist and the son of slaves, Carver worked his way through school to become a leader in agricultural research and found hundreds of products made possible by the cultivation of peanuts and sweet potatoes. A.L.S. 1p. 4to. on Tuskegee Institute letterhead, Tuskegee, Ala., Dec. 26, 1936 and writes in part: ""...Just to greet you and to send you and Mrs. Ross one of my little Cards made from Tuskegee days. I am still eating venison and pheasant, and they are positively delicious. The venison is such a rare treat...Hope this Holy season has poured out its blessings upon you in the most generous way..."" Usual folds, otherwise very good.
