CARVED IVORY PRESENTATION CANE
The carved "L" handle on this cane has the inscription "From B.W.T. to T.C.W." on the elbow of the handle. Theend of the "L" is scrimshaw and depicts a house in a laurel leaf wreath with "1695" at the top and "T.C.W." at thebottom. Some chips missing from the ivory, especially one that has impacted the "o" in "to" and a couple aroundthe edge of the end portion. A few other drying cracks present, especially near the collar. The handle is 3.5" wideand 1.25" high. The 1/3" collar is nickel and the 1.5" ferrule is steel. The hardwood shaft appears to be original,although the threads once carved into the top have worn down so the ivory handle is loose. Overall length, 35.5".(EST 200-300)
